Santa Cruz Catholic School's Student Council has three elected officers from the sixth through eighth grade: President, Treasurer, Secretary. Also, fourth through eighth grade students are invited to nominate a class representative. The council meets once a month to discuss and plan upcoming school activities, such as school pep rallies, and community philanthropy projects. The activities and projects vary depending on what the council decides. This is a valuable opportunity for students to learn leadership skills.
Meetings are held after school on the second Friday of every month from 1:30-2pm.
Students have multiple opportunities to participate in theater at Santa Cruz. Past shows include The Jungle Book, 101 Dalmatians, Cinderella, Aladdin, The Aristocats, and Winnie the Pooh among many other mini musicals and performances. Students from grades 1-8 learn many theater skills and become confident performers. Several students have gone on to perform in theater productions at St. Augustine, Salpointe, San Miguel and Tucson High. Students also have opportunities to see touring Broadway shows in Tucson and Phoenix. Students have gone to see Wicked at ASU and the U of A, Mary Poppins at ASU's Gammage Theater, and most recently Beauty and the Beast as part of Broadway in Tucson. In Fall 2015, the 1-4th grade students perfromed A Year With Frog and Toad. In April 2016, Santa Cruz 5th-8th grade will proudly present Disney's The Lion King.
